Baptism

Ordinarily, baptism is celebrated after one of the Sunday Masses by a priest or deacon of the parish..

Any parishioner wishing to have a child baptized should call the office to set a date and to provide the information necessary for the baptismal register.

  • Hartington Office: 402-254-6559

If this is your first child, you will be asked to participate in a baptismal preparation class.

  • Contact:  Deacon Doug Tunink 402-360-1384.

Catholics living outside of the parish must have a good reason for baptizing their child at our parishes and must present a letter from their own pastor giving them permission to do so.

Download the Baptism Registration Form to return to the parish office, or call the office with the needed information.

Funerals and Burials

The Catholic Church walks closely with those grieving the death of a loved one.  Funerals, Vigils and Burials can be planned by contacting the parish office.  Usually the family will be assisted by one of the local Funeral Homes to plan details, and will also meet with the priest, deacon or another parish representative to plan the services.  Traditionally vigils/wakes are held the evening before the funeral with the options of a time of visitation and rosary.  Funeral Masses are usually held at 10:30 AM and may occur any day excluding Sunday.  Services may be held at any of our seven churches after confirming availability.

Funeral Pre-Planning:  Leaving funeral directions for your loved ones is a gift to them.  It also insures that your family knows your desires.  A planning guide can be downloaded from the Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Omaha.  Alternatively, the Knights of Columbus also have a Personal Planning Workbook that can be obtained by contacting your local KC Field Agent.  Finally the Nebraska Catholic Conference has a Guide for Medical Decision-Making and Advance Directives.

Prayer Intentions

If you or someone you know is seriously ill and would like your/their name added to the Prayers of the Faithful at Sunday Mass, please call the Parish Offices to request this.

Prayer intentions can also be added to the prayer chain, where a group of parishioners will pray for your intention, if desired.

Prayer requests may also be sent directly to the pastor by mail or e-mail. In addition, they may be placed into an envelope marked “Prayer Intentions” and dropped into the collection basket.
